Turmeric and Saffron Braised Cabbage

Serves 4 as a side dish
20 minutes


½ head of cabbage, sliced
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 green chillies, finely sliced
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
2 tablespoons shredded coconut
½ jar of Tamarind Tree Turmeric and Saffron Paste

Remove thick ‘ribs’ from the cabbage.
Add coconut oil to a hot pan and fry mustard seeds and poppy seeds for 30 seconds
Add green chilli and curry leaves and cook for a minute
Add Tamarind Tree Turmeric and Saffron Paste and cook for a further minute
Add cabbage and about three tablespoons of water. Place a lid on top and turn the heat to low.
Braise for 10 minutes
Serve as a side dish with rice or roti.
